Chelsea & Man United In Battle to Sign $73m Goalscorer
Manchester United are reportedly readying a move to jump ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Lyon forward Moussa Dembele this summer.
23-year-old French international Dembele has been in bright form since moving from Celtic to France, scoring 42 goals in 88 matches for Lyon, but could well be tempted by a move to either of the two Premier League giants said to be interested in acquiring his services.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been overly dependent on youngster Tammy Abraham this season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done similarly so with England international Marcus Rashford and one can well see why both managers would look to bring in further reinforcements in the final third.
Some sources state that Dembele would prefer a move to Man United and a fee of around $73m has been mentioned, and that may well be a sum Lyon would consider for a player they bought for less than half that sum.
Lyon will not have Champions League action for the coming campaign and may well need the cash boost of such a sale to help balance the books and that lack of top level European football could also push Dembele into pushing for a transfer.
Prior to his move to France Dembele had proven very successful with Celtic, where he scored 51 goals in 94 appearances, and a move to a high-profile side may aid his push for a first full senior international cap for the French forward.
