Manchester United Lead Chase to Sign $124m Star Ahead of Real Madrid
Manchester United manager Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer remains keen on 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho and is currently ahead of Real Madrid in the race to sign the England international starlet.
Though Sancho is a former Manchester City man it appears that the Old Trafford side’s chief executive Ed Woodward is well and truly in the race to bring the young attacking midfielder back to the Premier League.
Sancho has proven an astonishing success since moving to Germany back in the summer of 2017. Last term the London born playmaker racked up 14 Bundesliga goals and 16 assists, a truly laudable return from a player so young.
Manchester United would no doubt like to bring in Sancho to offer added creativity in the final third and may well look to free up space in their budget by looking to sell troubled World Cup winner Paul Pogba, though one wonders if any of Europe’s elite are ready to bring in the French international at the present time.
Any move to sign Sancho would have to mean Manchester United smash their club transfer record spend, which came in the form of the $100m it took to sign Pogba back in 2016 and the current climate in the game, due to the coronavirus outbreak, make spending of that level all the more problematic.
Then you have to factor in whether Borussia Dortmund would be willing to sell such a prodigious talent, a player who could prove to be crucial to the development of the club as a whole. The Westfalenstadion side need to keep perennial rivals Bayern Munich in their sights and they won’t be able to do that if they once again start to lose their star talents.
