New Orleans Saints Sign QB Jameis Winston In One-Year Deal

Jameis Winston, who found himself replaced by NFL legend Tom Brady, has left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the New Orleans Saints.

The quarterback has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the Saints, who led the NFL in passing yards in 2019, and will have to battle fellow new addition Taysom Hill in their battle to unseat first choice QB Troy Brees.

26-year-old Winston had spent five years at Tampa Bay who was drafted in 2015 and threw for almost 20,000 yards during that period but certainly had questions about his consistency over the course of his time at the Buccaneers.

On the addition of Winston to the Saints’ ranks Brees stated;

“He’s got a lot of talent and a bright future and I’ve heard a lot of great things about his work ethic and his love of the game”.

And on his move away from Tampa Winston was very gracious, explaining;

“I’ve done some great things with the Bucs. I’m gonna miss being a starting quarterback, but you never know what happens. I think this is a great and unique step to join Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints and learn from one of the best to ever do it, and make a great transition in my career”.
