Real Madrid vs Barcelona: El Clasico Betting Guide

The El Clasico is rightly considered one of, if not the, biggest match of the club season across the whole of Europe and this weekend the clash between La Liga’s big two has a great deal riding on it.

Real Madrid’s surprise defeat to Levante last weekend let Barcelona move back to the top of the pile but in many ways Zinedine Zidane’s side are still the side to beat.

Though the Bernabeu side have struggled with injuries, as have Barcelona to be fair, Zidane’s side have been very hard to beat in recent months and their mean defense is the key to success when the two rivals go head to head.

El Clasico Betting Odds

Barcelona not to score +250
Real Madrid to win +115
Real Madrid to win 1-0 +850

Real Madrid have conceded just 17 goals from their 25 La Liga matches, the lowest in the division, and if they can keep it tight at the back then Lionel Messi and co. will struggle to get all three points.

Prior to the defeat to Levante Real Madrid hadn’t lost in 15 La Liga matches and Zidane is not the type of coach to allow his players’ heads to drop and that is why they could prove too much for their Nou Camp counterparts.

The sacking of Ernesto Valverde in mid-January should have led to an upsurge in form but the week after the arrival of Quique Setien Barcelona lost to Valencia and also got dumped out of the Copa Del Rey by Athletic Bilbao.

They then won three games on the bounce but all tightly fought fixtures, but their 5-0 win over Eibar could help to boost the morale in the dressing room.

There’s been a great deal of in-fighting at Barcelona of late with senior stars Messi and Gerard Pique clashing with the club’s board, and even former team-mate Eric Abidal, who serves as the club’s director of football.
