Seattle Sounders are Smart Early Bet for MLS Cup Success

The 2020 MLS Cup season starts later this month and the early season betting makes for interesting reading, so get ready to make a smart bet for the coming campaign.

For some reason, and it’s very hard to fathom quite why, the reigning champions Seattle Sounders are not the favorite in the market, indeed they are not even second favorite, but find themselves (with most US Sportsbooks) tied in third spot. So with this in mind it’s time to put your hard earned cash on them as soon as possible.

Brian Schmetzer’s side romped to their second ever MLS Cup triumph in 2019, finishing the regular season with a laudable 16-10 record and then pushed past the likes of FC Dallas, Real Salt Lake, Los Angeles FC and Toronto FC to clinch the title and we see no reason why they can’t come up trumps again in 2020.

Current favorites are the LAFC (+300) and then comes Toronto FC (+500), two sides Seattle dispatched last time around, and then a bunch of sides are placed on (+600) with Seattle joined by solid opponents Atlanta United, Los Angeles Galaxy and New York FC, all very strong franchises for sure. 

It’s worth noting that the Sounders have added a top quality midfielder to their ranks ahead of the new season, with Brazilian Joao Paulo coming in from Botafogo, with the 28-year-old versatile midfielder coming in as a designated player in their roster.

He joins fellow designated players Nicolas Lodeiro and Raul Ruidiaz, three strong international stars who should give the Sounders a real edge in 2020.
