UFC Legend Conor McGregor Announces Shock Retirement

Irish UFC star, and worldwide celebrity, Conor McGregor has shocked the world of MMA by announcing his retirement from the sport this weekend.

The 31-year-old took to Twitter to make his big announcement and the UFC world is certainly surprised by the decision and the way he elected to make his big reveal.

On Twitter he stated; “Hey guys I’ve decided to retire from fighting. Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been! Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins! Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you! Whatever you desire it’s yours”

McGregor, who’s personal wealth is estimated to be in the region of $100m, has previously announced his retirement only to return but this time it does seem that he is more clear cut about his intentions.

Over the course of his sparkling UFC career McGregor has fought in 26 bouts, winning 22 with 19 of those coming by knockout, all since his debut in the UFC octagon in 2013.

One does wonder what Conor McGregor may do next, perhaps he will consider other sporting avenues to take part in or just look to move into a new arena entirely. Either way he has been a big part of the reason the UFC has become one of the biggest sports in the world.

That increased growth has led to the market of UFC betting to grow immeasurably in recent years, so much so that all major US sportsbooks now offer a vast array of options to enjoy.
